School: Juan Cabrillo Elementary

My lifelong dream has been to work with students of all ages and positively impact their lives. It was this attitude that led me to pursue a career in education. I obtained my BA from Chapman University, my Masters in Education from UC Irvine, and additionally I hold a Masters in Educational Leadership from UCLA. I have had the privilege of teaching in California and New York City in grades ranging from 1st to 6th. I have also been an elementary Teacher on Special Assignment(TOSA) and a middle school Assistant Principal. I am extremely excited about being a part of Cabrillo which is a place where we truly "grow and learn together!"

"Where we grow and learn together"

December 2017

The holiday season is upon us and we are keeping busy here at Cabrillo!  In the past month, we have had student success assemblies, Thanksgiving activities, and a Family Gallery Night! In addition, our students continue to grow both socially and academically.

Our Positive Behavior Support System (PBS) helps develop the whole child. We continue to follow the 3 B's and students are rewarded for their positive behavior by collecting cub cards and having lunch with the principal and counselor. I am so proud of our students they have collected hundreds of cub cards this month.

We also educate the whole child at Cabrillo through our amazing specials such as PE, Art and Garden Rangers. This month the students participated in an after-school family gallery night. Parents were able to view their children's art work and create the same piece together directed by our art teacher, Ms. Graham.

Academically our classes continue to flourish. They are reading high level texts during their English Language Arts (ELA) block. As well as receiving small-group instruction to best meet their needs with the level readers that are found within our new ELA curriculum "Wonders". Furthermore, in science students have constructed their own instruments and created a band. We continue to dive in deeper to Cognitively Guided instruction in math. I am excited to see the growth of our amazing students!

Diciembre 2017
